California

Been anxious about trying to get my card, but thankfully cannigma’s process was simple and really fast. I was called by a physician on the same day, around eight in the evening. It was a surprise, but a welcome one.”

FAQ

  • Which conditions qualify me for a medical card?

You may be eligible for a medical card if you’ve been diagnosed with one or more of the following severe, debilitating, or life-threatening conditions:

    • AIDS/HIV
    • Anorexia
    • Arthritis
    • Cachexia (Wasting Syndrome)
    • Cancer
    • Chronic pain
    • Glaucoma
    • Migraine
    • Persistent muscle spasms (e.g., spasms associated with multiple sclerosis)
    • Seizures (e.g., epileptic seizures)
    • Severe nausea
    • Any other chronic or persistent medical symptom that either substantially limits a person’s ability to conduct one or more of major life activities as defined in the federal Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, or if not alleviated, may cause serious harm to the person’s safety, physical, or mental health.
  • How do I get my medical card?

Once your doctor has approved you for a medical recommendation, you will immediately receive a pdf copy of your recommendation via email. This recommendation letter contains your patient ID number, which is added to a private, physician-run registry that allows you to purchase products from medical dispensaries in California.

  • Which documents will I need for my evaluation?

You’ll need to provide your medical records, proof of identity, and proof of residence. Your California driver’s license or ID can prove both your residence and identity (if it’s up to date). If you don’t have a driver’s license or ID, a current utility bill or mail from the government addressed to your current address will be enough.

  • How much does it cost to be evaluated by a physician?

The cost of your evaluation is $49.
